Dermatology & Cosmetics

From ex vivo skin explants to microbiome swabs, OMICS4 runs the molecular evidence behind your efficacy claims and mechanism-of-action studies, in-house and through our dermo-cosmetic partner network.

Overview

Explants and skin microbiome, sequenced

OMICS4 runs the bench work behind dermo-cosmetic studies: ex vivo explants sequenced, skin microbiome profiled, low-biomass material handled without losing the signal. Primary data comes back quality-controlled, iteration after iteration, on the same protocol.

Platforms

Platforms that run a dermo-cosmetic study

Transcriptomics

Bulk RNA sequencing of ex vivo skin explants.

  • RNA-seq across treated and untreated explants
  • Paired designs supported across donors
  • RT-qPCR confirmation of selected transcripts

Metagenomics & Microbiome

16S and shotgun profiling of the skin community.

  • 16S taxonomic profiling
  • Shotgun sequencing for strain-level resolution
  • Low-biomass protocols for swabs and tape strips

Extraction & Quality Control

Protocols tuned for low-input and low-biomass material.

  • Extraction chosen by matrix, not by default
  • Concentration, purity and integrity measured
  • A QC report on every sample

Quantitative PCR

Targeted measurement across a formulation series.

  • qPCR on a defined marker set
  • Small volumes, published turnaround
  • The same assay across every iteration

Samples we accept

Ex vivo skin explants, biopsies, swabs, tape strips and culture supernatant. Low-biomass sampling is where a standard extraction loses the signal, so the protocol is chosen by matrix. Collection and storage protocols, and the RNA criteria that apply after extraction, are published per sample type.

Named partners on the explant work

Ex vivo explant studies run with DIVA Expertise and PKDERM, under the same single point of contact and the same QC standards as our in-house platforms. Formulation programmes advance in cycles, so the protocol is held fixed across a series: that is the only way one iteration can be compared with the next.

What you receive

A QC report for every sample. Sequencing files and, where the service covers it, aligned and quantified outputs. Result tables for PCR and protein work. Exports in the formats your team already imports, and turnaround published per service.

Where the bench stops

Analysis, integration, biomarker discovery and modelling are not part of a platform booking. They are run by GenXMap’s computational team. Ask for them in the quote request and both are scoped together.
